Pusan, November 2006
Pusan, is a city in southeastern South Korea, on Korea Strait. Pusan is the second largest South Korean city and the principal seaport in the republic. Industrial establishments in the city include shipyards, railroad workshops, rubber factories, ironworks, textile mills, rice and salt refineries, and fisheries. The port has ferry service to the Japanese port of Shimonoseki. Pusan has several universities, among them Pusan National University (1946). Pusan was invaded by the Japanese in 1592. The port was opened to Japanese trade in 1876 and to general foreign commerce in 1883. After 1910, when Korea became a Japanese protectorate, the city was the center of a flourishing trade with Japan. During the Korean War (1950-53), Pusan was a major port of entry and supply depot for United Nations forces. Population (1995) 3,813,814.
Meetings at a Baptist Church in this beautiful port city brought many wonderful surprises to the congregation as Holy Spirit began to move in ways that they had thought of as impossible.
1. An 83 year old Elder of the church had lost 90% his sight due to cataracts. As he came forward for prayer the cataracts melted away and for the first time he could see his friends. Up to that time he could only recognize his friends by the sound of their voice.
2. A woman had lost her voice for 6 years, and as the prayer lines moved forward she was instantly healed. We handed her the microphone to give her testimony and several of her friends in the audience cried out with shock and joy as they heard her speaking for the first time.
3. A 10 year old boy , the son of a single mom, received a gold cap on a cavity that could not be attended to by a dentist due to the mom’s lack of funds.
Three visitors shared that they had been prayed for during our September, 2006 meetings and have since received the good news that they are cancer free! Two were women who had been diagnosed with breast cancer and one man who had been diagnosed with throat cancer. As they shared their testimonies, the faith literally surged in the room and healings continued over the next two hours!
