Finally - a chance to get out of the car! Not used to the left hand drive and convinced that my driver and anonymous friend (photo right, name withheld to protect his reputation) was a distracted driver to say the least , a bite of ‘dinnah’ sounded great. Settled in the restaurant, my friends ordered a strange concoction of ‘lemon-lime and bitters’ (It was a 40+ Celsius day in Adelaide!!!) My first sip and I was ‘gob smacked!’ I loved it and looked forward to other delicious surprises on the menu.
A glance through the fare proved challenging. What would I select as my main course? Kangaroo steak? My thought’s went to sad photos of little Joeys roasting on the barbie. Hamburgers with sliced red beets? Nasty! Squash muffins with cheese? Never again! Snails and sweetbreads? Baked Oxtail? Breaded Rabbit? Lamb stew? Milk Fed Baby Goat? Like Peter viewing the suspended sheet (Acts 10:11), I whispered to myself “surely not Lord!” I finally settled on a shrimp pasta dish that was familiar and delicious.
But the best meal of all? A hilarious goodbye party lovingly dubbed “The BOG”. The menu of marinated steak, veggies and Pavlova for dessert was absolutely delicious, but the camaraderie, the company of zealous believers, the sharing and the lasting relationships made it absolutely Divine!
