My first meeting for ministry was in Seoul at the Perscilla School of Intercession and Prayer. This was my fourth time back to this school and I really honour these dedicated folks who have been meeting together for many, many years, networking with YWAM, Churches and Pastors throughout the Seoul area. Their primary focus is to teach and provide practical application to believers in Spiritual Warfare, Prophesy and Intercession. Most of the school were leaving for an outreach to Cebu in the Philippines, and I was delighted to spend time with them teaching on the Holy Spirit.
My next meeting was my second visit to Grace Mission Church in the Seoul area as well. I was surprised to meet up with Christine, a believer from Chicago, who had flown over a month earlier to attend our meetings then. Christine contracted polio at three years old and for the past 32 years she required braces in both legs from her hips to her ankle and crutches from her elbows in order to walk. During one of the healing nights she experienced a significant touch from the Lord and felt a 50% improvement in her mobility. As a result she chose to stay and soak in an atmosphere of faith for a few more weeks.
As their name suggests, Grace Mission Church has a huge heart for missionary work and they support over 60 full time missionaries! Teaching on Holy Spirit anointing and Intimacy with Jesus were well received, and many received a deep touch from the Lord.
On the last day of ministry the wind of Holy Spirit began to blow through the room and people were getting deeply touched. I was looking to see if a window was open, but there were no windows in the big room. Some people began to take in deep breaths of this breeze, and then it began to happen spontaneously throughout the room. Some began to make the motion of flying while laying on the floor. Others looked like they were swimming in water. To be honest, I really didn’t know what to do and so I just whispered “More Lord”.
Luke 5:17 One day as He was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for Him to heal the sick.
People became overwhelmed with His presence and there was loud groaning and weeping and then people began getting healed. It was absolutely wonderful. During the testimony time, several came forward and talked about seeing visions of the Lord, some received a scepter in their right hand, and some received a white glistening sword. Gold dust started appearing on peoples face, and one little girl was deeply touched to discover she had gold all over her hands.
The next day we took a two hour drive to a city called Seosan. This was
my third visit to this church and it was great to reconnect with many familiar faces. These are generous, hospitable and fun believers under the leadership of a powerful and devoted woman. They treated me to a fabulous dinner out which included some very ‘fresh’ and alive fish!
Located in the center of a farming community this church is a beacon of light to the surrounding community. I had a wonderful teaching time here – the Lord came strongly as I was teaching on’ The Anointing of Holy Spirit’, ‘Faith of Elijah’ and ‘Intimacy with Jesus’ and the people were responding with great hunger for more. There was a lot of spontaneous deliverance and the people fully embraced the discipline of soaking and resting in the Lord. It was also significant that in this town of some territorialism, eight Pastors from surrounding churches joined the group for a first hand look at the workings of Holy Spirit!
The next day I drove another five hours to a University City called Gangneung. This seaside city is in the North East province of South Korea, and is a tourist destination in the summer months. Being a province of extraordinary natural beauty, animism (the belief that all nature has a soul) is prevalent here and the city hosts a yearly festival which is quite a demonic stronghold in the region.
Because of the awareness of these animistic strongholds, the hosting Pastor was unsure of how well these meetings would be attended. He communicated to me that I was the first Western Pastor to be invited into this Holiness congregation to speak about the’ controversial’ topic of Holy Spirit. Given these two factors, he was greatly surprised to find a gathering of approximately seven hundred people as well as several Pastors from around the area who came to observe the ministry times. The hosting church is conservative in nature, but the people were and are very hungry for more. I had an opportunity to pray for about thirty Pastors and their wives and all of them were deeply touched by Holy Spirit. This demonstration seemed to release the people and many more were spontaneously touched by Holy Spirit. There were several students from the University attending, and the Pastor said that some of them received the gift of tongues!
After the first night of meetings they decided to put down some floor padding and move a lot of the pews out of the way, so that we would have more room and a safer surface for ministry. (The floors are solid marble and very cold.)
On the last night of meetings, over one hundred people were healed and several received gold caps on their teeth, as well as many had gold dust on their hands and face. One of the women testified that every time she opened her bible during the meetings there were colored lights flashing on the pages! There were also thirty recorded salvations - what a wonderful way to end this trip before returning to Canada for the Christmas Season.
